Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature and runs from 24thSeptember – 2nd October 2022
There are many events taking place across Preston, see below.
Launch event: Mayor of Preston Cllr Neil Darby who is a longstanding member of CAP will welcome children and staff to the Mayor’s Parlour from some of Preston’s Primary Schools which have created posters showing the environmental activities and achievements from the 21-22 academic year. These will then be displayed at The Town Hall, Preston Climate Emergency Centre, The Larder Cafe and Intact Centre.

‘Sustainability Saturday; at The Larder, PR1 1DD with Repair Cafe 10-1 (electrical repairs, sewing/clothing, and our “glue and string” table) and children’s Dragonfly craft using recycled materials. View the Green Schools Posters while you’re there.
Does your bike need fixing? Get it sorted by a ‘Preston Pedals’ mechanic – FREE!
The cafe will be open 10-4 for a wide range of delicious food and drink.

1.30 – Nick Danby – The Climate Emergency.
Nick is a lifelong environmentalist and dedicated anti-franking campaigner.
2.30 – Robin Jones – Solar energy strategies.
Robin is Senior Project Officer with Low Carbon and Renewable Energy at
LCC and active in Preston Solar Action
3.30 – Dr Julie Ridley – Everyday cycling as a way to tackle
Julie led CAP’s Cycling Campaign and now leads the National Lottery funded
project ‘Preston Pedals’.
Don’t miss the ‘Green Choir’!
This group, having first gathered at the end of August,
will sing some of the pieces they have learnt together.
Led by Jon Aveyard of Preston Music Workshops,
they bring you songs of nature, songs of humanity
