Great Big Green Week at the Climate Emergency Centre

1.30pm – The Climate Emergency –
Nick Danby, a lifelong environmentalist, Green Party Candidate, has been active in many organisations including Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, the Woodland Trust, the Wildfowl & Wetland Trust and the RSPB. Ardent in the anti-fracking movement he  was particularly involved as a media spokesperson for Frack Free Lancashire. Nick will offer an overview of the current crisis.

2.30pm – Solar Energy Explainer and Strategies, featuring Preston Solar Action.
Robin Jones 
who is Senior Project Officer on Low Carbon and Renewable Energy at Lancashire County  Council and a member of Climate Action Preston’s community energy project will deliver this presentation. Robin has also worked on a Renewable Energy Project for Together Housing which assessed the financial feasibility of solar and battery domestic retrofit rollout.

3.30pm – Everyday cycling to tackle climate change – the ambition of ‘Preston Pedals’
Julie Ridley
– lives and works in Preston and is an everyday cyclist. Recognising the power of cycling to tackle climate change she led Climate Action Preston’s cycling campaign. She manages the ‘Preston Pedals’ project, a National Lottery Together for the Planet funded project over 10-months that aims to increase access to bikes in Preston through refurbishing unused or donated bikes; increasing people’s skills in maintaining bikes; and funding learn to ride or bike riding sessions
